Legal
Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 October 2026.
- Your databases, queries, results, files and Recall notes stay on your Mac. We never receive them.
- The app sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. You can turn off both in Settings.
- This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies.
- If you buy Pro, Paddle handles the payment; we receive your email to issue the license.
Who is responsible
Ruslan Hryshchenko, a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@mxds.app.
This website
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver and protect it. We do not run analytics on the site and set no cookies. The theme you pick is remembered in your browser for the open tab only.
Email sign-ups
If you leave your email to hear about the release, we keep the address, the page you signed up on, and when you signed up and confirmed it. We use it only to confirm the sign-up and to write when mxds is ready. Emails are sent through Resend. We keep the address until you ask us to delete it, or until we have sent that one email. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw any time by writing to us.
Buying Pro
Paddle is the Merchant of Record for purchases and processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. From Paddle we receive your email, country and subscription status, so that we can issue and renew your license and answer you. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
Your license and devices
When you activate Pro, the app sends your license key, an identifier of your Mac (a salted hash of its hardware ID, not the ID itself), the Mac’s name and the app version. The app checks the license with our server from time to time. We use this only to make the license work, for example to keep it on one Mac at a time. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
Usage statistics
mxds sends anonymous counts of how it is used to Google Analytics: a random install ID, the app and macOS versions, the chip architecture, and events such as “a query ran” with sizes and durations rounded into ranges. It never sends SQL, data, file or table names, paths or hostnames. Turn it off in Settings, or set the DO_NOT_TRACK=1 environment variable. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing which features to improve.
Crash reports
When mxds crashes or hits an internal error, it sends a report to Sentry: where in the code it happened, the app and macOS versions and the architecture. Error messages are removed from the report, so SQL or credentials in them never leave your Mac. Turn it off in Settings. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in fixing crashes.
What stays on your Mac
Connections and their passwords (in the macOS Keychain), queries, results, query history, notebooks, Recall notes and their embeddings, and the usage dashboard’s data never leave your Mac through mxds. Recall downloads its embedding model once from Hugging Face; your notes are not sent anywhere.
Services you choose
The databases, AI agents and models you use with mxds, and GitHub Copilot if you turn it on, receive what you send them under their own terms. mxds does not share your data with them on its own.
Who processes data for us
Cloudflare (website and license server), Paddle (payments), Resend (email), Google (usage statistics) and Sentry (crash reports). Some of them process data outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it, by writing to hello@mxds.app. If you are in the EU or the UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
mxds is not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page, with a new date at the top.
